GBA SP USB Type C & Audio Out Charge Port Mod With Matching Cover - FunnyPlaying

Turn your old power port on your GBASP into a battery recharge port with the option for audio out.

Simply de-solder the old power port from the Gameboy Advance SP motherboard and replace it by soldering in this new USBC port. The board is extra thick to perfectly centre the charge port in the middle of the existing hole.

The port comes with an injection moulded cover to match the FunnyPlaying GBASP shell.

These boards will support USB-A to USB-C charge leads such as these

Soldering skill required - Precision Dremel recommended

I am a repair tech, i purchased this product with access to all my tools.

The USB-C fitment requires advanced soldering knowledge and is by no means easy for a beginner. I could only ever recommend someone who has a good amount of soldering knowledge to even attempt this.
However, once it is on there.... Damn is it nice!

The injection moulded cover unfortunately cracked my case, so you need to be careful with this piece, do not force it into the case whatsoever ! If it does not fit, you will need to file or dremel it. This was my own mistake, but i am mentioning it so people are aware.

It makes a great addition to the GBA SP. Now we can charge pretty much anywhere.
A couple of things to note though:
1. This will only charge from USB-A to USB-C, there are other ones on market that allow USB-C -> USB-C. Is this a problem? Not really tbh, USB-A is everywhere too.

2. In order to get Audio out of it, you will need; 3.5mm to USB-C cable without a DAC. Most cables today come with DAC, so make sure you order one that has NO DAC.

Put it this way, it looks pretty difficult but persistence and the video would be helpful in my case 🍡
